BLOCKSMITH

Pixel art from an image, built as blocks.

Drop a picture. Blocksmith turns it into a grid of blocks and a datapack that builds the grid, standing up or lying flat.

“Minecraft pixel art generator from image” is a crowded search, and most of the tools are websites that produce a map. Blocksmith does the block wall (or the floor). You drop a PNG anywhere in the app, crop and zoom if you need to, and the preview shows the blocks before you commit. The matcher works in a colour space that cares about hue, so a red stays red instead of sliding into orange wool. Dithering spreads the error, so a gradient survives.

The sunset in the gallery started as a picture drawn for that page: blue into orange, a pale sun, a dark band of water. The page lists how wide it is and how many kinds of block it used. That is a real conversion, not a stock render with a caption swapped. Bring your own photo only if it is yours or you have permission. A drawing by a child in the house is a normal thing to drop in. A film still is not.

The result is a build, so it installs like any other Blocksmith build, and it can rise course by course. It is not a map item. If what you wanted was a map to hang in an item frame, MapartCraft is the tool that has spent years on that problem, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise.

No account is required. The picture is read on your computer. It is not sent anywhere unless you explicitly use an AI wish on a 3D build from a photo, which is a different button, for players 13 and over.

Questions

Can it make Minecraft pixel art from an image?

Yes. Drop a PNG, or paste one. Blocksmith matches colours to blocks, with dithering so a sky does not turn into stripes, and writes a datapack that builds the picture as a wall or as a floor.

How is that different from MapartCraft?

MapartCraft is a specialist for map items, and it is very good at that. Blocksmith builds a physical picture out of blocks, in the same app as skins and worlds. The comparison is factual on the MapartCraft page.

Can I convert any picture?

You can convert a picture you have the right to use. Blocksmith does not grant that right. The sunset in the gallery was drawn for the page, so it is not someone else’s photo.
