Minecraft survival base ideas

Start with a starter house, not a castle. After the first night, add one farm and one mine entrance that is lit on the way down. The gallery’s survival-sized set is small and medium houses, farms, mines and villages: 46 builds. A short list:

• Cosy farm — 5,610 blocks, from “a cosy farm”.
• Desert farm — 5,798 blocks, from “a desert farm”.
• Cobble mine — 3,314 blocks, from “a cobble mine”.
• Frozen mine — 3,311 blocks, from “a frozen mine”.
• Frozen house — 751 blocks, from “a frozen house”.
• Starter house — 754 blocks, from “a starter house”.

Villages in the gallery are a row of houses, which is a later project. They make a poor first base because you are maintaining a street before you have a bed. Use villages when the starter house already works.

Steps

1. Sleep safely first. Follow the starter house tips. No base plan survives a night with no bed.
2. Add food you can see from the door. A small farm from the farm gallery, or a wheat patch you dig yourself. Put it in the light.
3. Mine away from the bedroom. A mineshaft entrance at the edge of the base, with torches on the stairs. Don’t open the floor of the house into a cave.
4. Only then, a bigger shell. Move into a larger house or a small castle when you have the materials on that page’s list. The datapack can place the shell. You still light it and furnish it.

Underground bases and mountain bases are not a separate generator. Pick a small house and dig, or terrace, yourself. We would rather say that than pretend there is a secret underground category.
