How to install a texture pack on Bedrock
Blocksmith saves an .mcpack. Opening that file is the import. Then you activate it.
Bedrock does not read Java’s resourcepacks folder. Blocksmith writes a separate .mcpack of the same generated images, with animated water and lava. The file lands in Downloads. There are 56 packs in the gallery if you want to see a palette before you make your own.
This is not a Marketplace pack. Nothing is purchased inside Minecraft. You are importing a file the app made.
Steps
- Save the .mcpack. In Blocksmith, choose the Bedrock export. Leave the file as .mcpack. Don’t rename it to .zip unless you know you are going to import a folder by hand.
- Open it. Double-click the .mcpack, or tap it on a device where Minecraft is the app that owns that extension. The game should say it imported the pack.
- Activate it. Settings, Global Resources, find the pack under My Packs, and activate it. Apply. If you only wanted it on one world, you can also add it from that world’s resource settings.
- If the import does nothing. Minecraft is not the default app for .mcpack, or you exported the Java folder by mistake. Export Bedrock again and open the .mcpack from inside the game’s import path if the double-click failed.
Java steps are separate: install a texture pack on Java. Neither file contains Mojang’s textures.
Questions
Does this work on a phone or console?
The .mcpack is the Bedrock file. A phone that can import an .mcpack can take it. Consoles are stricter about local files. Blocksmith itself is a Mac and Windows app, so you make the pack on the computer and move the file.
Why is my Java pack invisible on Bedrock?
They are different exports. Ask Blocksmith for the Bedrock .mcpack.
Do I need coins or Minecoins?
No. This is not a Marketplace purchase.
Mac and Windows. On a Mac, Blocksmith is notarised by Apple and opens normally. On Windows, the installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say “Windows protected your PC”: choose More info, then Run anyway.
