How to build a castle in Minecraft
Decide the footprint before the first tower. A castle that does not fit the hill will not be saved by another layer of battlements.
Look at one finished castle before you invent a new one. Stone castle with four towers is 9,746 blocks, from the sentence “a big stone castle with four towers”. The three most common materials are stone, stone bricks, oak planks. The watch runs 46 seconds. That is a timelapse of the datapack, not a speed-build promise.
There are 25 castles in the castle gallery, and the decisions below are the ones that change the block count the most.
Steps
- Choose the ground. A rectangle you can walk, with room outside the walls for a path. Mountain castles need a terrace first. Don’t start the tower on a slope and hope the wall meets it.
- Walls, then corners. Walk the wall at two blocks thick if you want a walkway. Corners become towers only after the wall is square. Four towers is a plan, not a requirement. One gate tower is enough for a survival keep.
- Gate, stairs, floors. The gate is a hole you can defend: doors, a lip above, and light inside so the courtyard is not a mob farm. Stairs belong in a tower, not in the middle of the hall, or the hall is just a staircase.
- Interior last. Floors, a throne or a crafting corner, and light. Empty castles feel unfinished because they are dark, not because they lack furniture. Use the material list if you are matching the gallery castle by hand.

Can I build this in survival?
Yes, from the material list, if you accept the block count. 9,746 blocks is a project. Smaller castles are in the same gallery.
Do you have a schematic download from other sites?
No. The datapack is Blocksmith’s own build. We don’t rehost other people’s schematics.
What command places it?
After /reload, /function blocksmith:build. /function blocksmith:watch plays it. You need permission to run commands.
Mac and Windows. On a Mac, Blocksmith is notarised by Apple and opens normally. On Windows, the installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say “Windows protected your PC”: choose More info, then Run anyway.
