BLOCKSMITH

Privacy policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

The short version. Blocksmith runs on your own computer. Skins, packs, builds, worlds, pictures and songs are all made there. What leaves your computer: if you have a plan, a check that it's active; your AI wishes (players 13 and up); and, for players 13 and up, short anonymous notes about using the app (“opened”, “made a skin”). There is no account, no chat, no advertising in the app, and no cookies on this site. Players under 13 get AI wishes and the notes switched off, so nothing is sent but the plan check.

Who we are

Blocksmith is run by OneKindMedia Inc., a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada (“we”, “us”), which is the data controller for the information below. Write to support@blocksmithapp.com about anything in this policy. A person reads it.

Age

The first time Blocksmith opens, it asks for the year you were born. It keeps only the answer “13 or over” or “under 13”, on your computer, and never sends it to us. If the answer is under 13, AI wishes are switched off and the only thing the app sends is the plan check described below. Blocksmith is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

What stays on your computer

Everything you make, the pictures and MIDI files you add, your settings, the folder Minecraft is in, and your Blocksmith code. Pictures you turn into pixel art and songs you turn into note block machines are processed on your computer and never sent to us. Delete the Blocksmith folder and it's all gone.

The plan check

If you have a Plus or Pro plan, each time Blocksmith opens, and every 15 minutes while it runs, it sends our server your Blocksmith code and a random name for your copy of the app, and our server answers whether the plan is active. We use this only to run the subscription and stop codes being shared beyond a household.

AI wishes (13 and up)

When you make something with an AI wish, the app sends our server: the wish you typed (at most 120 characters), what kind of thing it is, a random name for your copy of the app, and your Blocksmith code. If you choose Build it in 3D with a picture, a smaller copy of that picture is sent too. Our server passes the wish (and picture) to Anthropic, whose AI, Claude, writes a small recipe of colours and shapes. That recipe is checked against a fixed list before anything is drawn. Anthropic handles it under its own commercial terms and does not use it to train its models.

We do not keep your wish or your picture. What our server keeps:

WhatWhyHow long
One line per AI wish: the time, what kind of thing, whether it worked, your copy's random name, your Blocksmith code, and the internet (IP) address it came from To count each plan's wishes, stop abuse, and find faults90 days
Download counts by where visitors came from (for example “tiktok”) — numbers only, nothing about you To know which adverts workKept as totals

The random name and IP address are used only to run the service and prevent abuse (our legitimate interest), never for advertising or profiling.

How the app is used (13 and up)

So we can see whether Blocksmith works for people, a copy whose player said they're 13 or over sends our server a short note when it's opened, when something is made (which kind of thing, and whether an AI wish was used), when something is put into the game, when the plans are opened, when a code is entered, and when AI wishes run out — with the copy's random name, its version, and whether it's on a Mac or Windows. Never the wish, a picture, a name or anything you've made. Copies for players under 13, and copies whose player hasn't been asked their age yet, send none of this. We keep these notes for 24 months.

The free download

To get the app you give us an email address, and we send the download links to it. We keep the address, when you asked, and which advert or page sent you, so we can send you the links again if you ask. We only send news about Blocksmith if you tick the box to say yes; every such email has an unsubscribe link. We delete the address within 24 months, or sooner if you ask. The emails are sent for us by Resend. The download itself needs no account.

Buying a plan

Plus and Pro are bought by an adult (18+) through Stripe's checkout. The sale is made through Link, Stripe's checkout, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record: it takes the payment, adds any sales tax, VAT or GST, and sends your receipts, under its own privacy policy. You type your card into Stripe's page; we never see it. Stripe tells us your email address and identifiers for your customer and subscription. We keep those with your Blocksmith code and how many wishes you have used this month, for as long as you subscribe and 12 months after (longer where tax law needs it). Your code is also printed on your receipts.

This website

This site sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device to follow you, and loads nothing from third parties; the typeface is served from here. While you're on a page, it sends our server anonymous notes about that visit: which parts of the page you scrolled to, which buttons you pressed, which questions you opened, roughly how long you stayed, your kind of device and browser, the website that sent you, and the advert link you came from. They're tied to a random number made for that one page visit, which is gone when you leave. If you then download or buy, that number goes along too, so we can see which pages and adverts lead to a sale. We don't store your IP address with any of this: to count one person's visits once a day, it's mixed with a secret that changes every day and is then deleted, so nobody can work back to you. We keep these notes for 24 months. Our host, Netlify, keeps ordinary server logs for security. If you use the contact form, your email address and message come to us so we can reply, and are deleted within 12 months.

Who we share with

Only the services that run Blocksmith for us: Anthropic (AI wishes), Stripe and Link (payments, tax and receipts), Resend (sends our emails), Railway (hosts our server and its database) and Netlify (hosts this website and the contact form). We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising.

Laws we follow

Blocksmith is run from Ontario, Canada and follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the GDPR for people in the UK and EU, and the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) — which is why, for players under 13, AI wishes are off and the only thing sent is the plan check, used solely to run the service.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, take it elsewhere, or object to how we use it. Email support@blocksmithapp.com and we will answer within a month. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes we will change the date at the top, and tell subscribers by email about anything important.
